Dream-Things You Should Know About Dreams?

My mother always told me that dreams were like a good meal – delicious and filling but can leave you hungry afterwards. I never believed her until I had my own dream. Now I know that whatever causes our dreams are in our minds, just as a spoiled child never wants to eat her vegetables.

Accepting The Reality

Dreams are not reality. As we go through life we become accustomed to our surroundings, we accept them as reality and enjoy their comfort. We become like “nannies” for our children, taking care of them when they are young, taking care of their needs when they grow up.

When we die our “spoiled” children live without us and without a memory of the lives we lived. Then, as we age the dreams they have are often strange, painful and sometimes frightening. Dreams come out of us, not through us.

They come to us through our dreams and will grow with us into our adult lives. When we die these dreams disappear into our minds and are forgotten as we slowly fade away.

You see, our thoughts are the cause of our dreams and not the unknown event that produces them. Our thoughts cause our dreams, they are what makes the dreaming process possible. They do this through what is called our unconscious mind.

Unconscious Mind

The unconscious mind is the part of our mind that has no control over our conscious mind. It functions on its own, outside of the conscious mind, and we don’t control it. Our dreams are just one example of how our unconscious mind operates.

To have a dream we first need to know where we are going, so we can get there. We may travel down a path and have thought of walking there. This thought takes us through the process of deciding where we are going and how we are going to get there. This is not easy, and our conscious mind comes in between and lets us know that something is wrong.

When we stop or change the direction we are traveling in, our subconscious minds may find us. But when our subconscious mind is in place we are in place, and we are in a position to have a dream. There is no process of conscious decision making, just a chain of events that lead us into a different state of being.

Your unconscious mind does not tell you are a conscious mind that it will do anything. It takes actions without any knowledge that it is doing them. The conscious mind tells the unconscious mind “This is what you should do”.

Dream Of Abuse

If you have ever had a dream of what looked to be some kind of abuse, then you can understand why the unconscious mind would have something to do with that. The unconscious mind knows that you are in pain and that you want to escape, so it produces a very real or imagined image of the abuse in your mind. This helps you to be aware of the abuse and gives you a reason to stop it.

If you have a dream about the police being after you, and you turn around to run away, a good reason to get away from the situation, your unconscious mind knows what to do. Just as your conscious mind tells you to get away from the fire, so the unconscious mind tells you to run, so it can help you escape the police.

Dreams are as real as your desires and fears, and that means that you must always be aware of the ways you are being pushed and pulled by your unconscious mind. Whatever you do you must also be careful to keep the unconscious in check.
