Some Facts About Day Dreaming

  • Daydreaming decreases as you come of age. It mostly involves anticipation of future things and events. Young people have more power fantasies as compared to old ones. Youngsters are more ambitious and active in the field of life. This is not the same in the case of older people. For them, the future starts shrinking, and hopes tend to fade.
  • Daydreaming takes you to a whole new whole. It distracts you from the present and makes you forget things. The amount of distraction depends upon the possibility of the daydream. For instance, you may be planning in your mind to go for a vacation abroad. But just after some time, you may think of a local road trip with your friends. The latter one has the more possibility to get you carried with planning and fantasies as compared to the former. This is so because the latter is more close to reality.
  • As you daydream, some parts of your brain get turned off. According to science, there are two systems of the human mind. The analytic part is responsible for making reasonable opinions and decisions. The empathetic part, on the other hand, helps us relate to our surroundings. When you daydream, the empathetic part of the brain gets deactivated. You lose your ties with reality and get lost in your thoughts and imagination.
